Entertainment. Swoop watches the sun set. Thankfully he was looking at the glow around it rather than looking directly at it. Even humans have that problem. They were those dark tinted eyeglasses on their faces to hide their eyes. If only bats had something like that. Swoop shook himself out of those thoughts as he looked at the night sky. Stars glisended throughout the black sky. Like little fireflies. He looked to Maria. She was still roosting, covering her face with her wings. He flew up and landed on the cave’s sealing next to her. She was snoring loudly. Other than that; he thought she was adorable. Like an upside down sleeping puppy. “Sun’s down.” He said to her. “Time to wake up.” He hears her snore more, not moving an inch. He raised his hand up and quickly taps her. She dangled like a windchime. Her snoring continued. Swoop smiled to himself. “Oh it’s like that, is it.” He kept tapping her, making her dangle. The Messenger. Shade hung on a tree branch staring at the setting sun. A look of concern on his face. Whom The Bell Tolls. Maria woke to something poking her side. She groggily rose her head to look behind her. Thankfully bats can do this to look right-side-up while hanging upside-down by their feet. She sees Swoop wiggling around. She wanted to tell him to go back to sleep but saw from his face that he was still asleep. Though she saw that there was a look of discomfort on his face. She shrugged and lowered her head and returned to her roosting position. She then heard him breathing heavily and shaking more. She looks back and sees him wiggling frantically. His whole body swung, shook, and twisted. She saw a look of fear on his face. He must have been having a nightmare. She looks up and sees his feet clench and shake. “Swoop…?” She watches him. She then sees his feet start to slowly slide down the wooden beam. “Swoop!” She yells. “Wake up! You’re slipping!” He shakes more. She reaches out to him. His feet slip off of the beam, sending him plummeting towards the ground.

Shelter Swoop and Maria flew through the city. Swoop looked to the eastern horizon and saw the sun beginning to rise. "It's already morning. We need to roost somewhere and sleep so we'll be able to have enough energy for the trip." Maria looked up at him. Her eyes were showing her drowsiness. She could barely keep her eyes open and fly straight. She nodded. They flew down to the forest where Swoop found Maria. He lead her to a hollow stump. "We'll sleep here until sundown. I roost here all of the time. Don't worry. I do my business elsewhere. I like to keep my crib clean." They land next to the stump. Maria entered the stump. Chapter 3: We're not in Canada anymore. A bat woke up with a cold sweat. They breathed heavily. It was the result of a nightmare. They slowed their breathing and whipped their hands over their face. They then flew of of the tree stump they were sleeping in. They flew over to a nearby pond and looked at the waters surface. They saw their reflection. The reflection showed a grey male bat. He had short shaggy black hair with two short bangs that hung next to each of his eyes. The same pitch black color was on his chest fur. He washed his face with his hands and drank the water. Chapter 2: Bat-free Zone. Maria awoke and looked at the sunlight shinning through the tree's holes. She looked over to her sleeping parents. Shade was sleeping right next to Marina. It was always heartwarming to see her parents sleeping so close to each other. Though she'd never admit it out loud. Other bats her age can be judgmental with those who cling too much to their parents. Thinking that stuff like that was 'uncool' or 'lame'. She made sure not to flop down or fly. Doing either would wake them up. She carefully crawled along the tree bark away from them. She crawled across the sealing, down the wall, and out the closest hole she could get to. Her eyes adjusted to the light. She had to blink a few times to aid them. She looked up, seeing the sun sitting straight up in the sky. She's only seen it at one horizon or the other. Authors Note: for this continuity, Silverwing takes place in 2007, and this story takes place in 2012. I have not read read the other two books yet. So I will not go over things like Shades dad or anything like that. I will only use info from Silverwing. Keep that in mind. Chapter 1: Home In the vast forest of Eastern Canada stood a lone hollow tree. The fully lit moon eliminated down on top of the green grass and light brown tree, creating a blue tint to the scenery. Fireflies buzzed around the grass blades, blinking their bio-luminescent backsides. A lone firefly hovered onto what it thought was another grass blade, only to be met with two large eyes staring down at it.
